Part 09 - A Prior Prescription Exists, Refining the Axis
With some lens set kits, the etched lines for the axis on the cylinder lenses are not as accurate as we would like them to be. If the cylinder is not zero:
Note or write down the axis.
Remove the cylinder lens and flip it around, so that the patient is looking the other
way through the lens.
Adjust the axis to match the axis you just noted or wrote down.
Have the patient adjust the axis (rotate the cylinder lens) for sharpest vision.
The final axis for the prescription will be the average between the latest axis measurement and the number you just noted or wrote down.
Finished Testing An Eye
Congratulations! You have just finished testing one eye. If the eye you just tested is the right eye, and now you want to test the left eye, go to Part 05 - A Prior Prescription Exists, Test One Eye.
If the left eye was just tested, testing for this patient is complete and you may test another patient's eyes by going to Part 01 - Start Testing Eyesight.
